The Season of Light
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you” Isaiah 60:1
Epiphany is the season of light where The Word reveals who the God-Man is in Christ Jesus. Whether it be the Visit of the Wise Men (Mt2:1-12), The Baptism of our Lord (Mt3:13-17), John’s proclamation “Behold , the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (Jn1:29-42), and The Transfiguration of our Lord (Mt17:1-9), it is the season where our Lord epiphanies himself to us.
We always hear the phrase, “I just had an epiphany!” Yes, those instances where we realize something important, an idea, light bulb moment of sorts. And so it is in the season of Epiphany as The Word makes known who our Lord is as our Savior. What a grand season this is for when we dwell upon all the epiphanies in our life what is greater than the Lord’s epiphany to us?
So, I invite you to join me throughout the season of epiphany as we dwell upon the Light of God’s Word. For His Word proclaims, “Arise and Shine, for your light has come”. The true light given as the Lord said in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life”. For the light of life is Jesus, the one who died and rose for you for the forgiveness of all your sins. This is the light bulb moment that illumines you to all eternity. And though we live in these grey and latter days where sometimes we forget the glory of His light, I pray that God’s Word will strengthen you in the hope of Christ.
Also, in the New Year, we continue to pray that the Lord may shine His light in the field of evangelism. Ask yourself, “Do I know anyone who needs to hear and receive Christ and His Word?”.
“Is it my friends, neighbors, or even someone within the home?”.
Everyone needs Christ. Everyone needs The Light.
Therefore in this upcoming year, I highly encourage you to see your specific field. To see and spiritually discern the great need of His Light for those around you. Invite them to church or even bible study and continue to pray for them.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven”. (Mt5:14-16)
Have a wonderful new year!
