Carry On

Greetings to you in Christ Jesus!

“to equip the saints...for building up the body of Christ, until we attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes”.
Ephesians 4:12-14

Though we have faced many challenges in the last year and a half, we learned much in regards to the unity of faith. When times are troublesome and circumstances difficult, we flee to God’s Word, “take heart, it is I, do not be afraid” [Mt14:27]. For in Christ, the unity of the faith carries on. Though the waves attempt to toss us to and fro, and the devil blows every wind of crafty deceit, nonetheless, the faith carries on.

For in the Word, you are equipped to carry on in faith. From the Law to the Gospel, we are not only convicted of our sin but also comforted by the faith of Christ who willing went to the Cross only to be slaughtered for us. For it is our Lord who carried on as He wore the crown of thorns, shedding His blood for you as your Passover Lamb. Thus, by His sacrificial blood and His conquering victory over the grave, there your faith is [and will always be], and thus you carry on.

Just as St Paul encouraged the Ephesians to carry on in the unity of faith, we also are to do the same. Through the preached Word, bible studies [Sun & Weds], devotions [Tues & Thurs], you are constantly being bombarded with the equipping of your faith through the words of the Crucified Christ [1Cor1:23]. And through the strengthening of the faith in the Gospel, dwelling in the gifts of Holy Baptism, and feeding on His body and blood in the Lord’s Supper, we carry on because the battle has already been won!

I know there is much going in this world today. And in fear, we tell ourselves, “escape! escape!”. As parents, we look at our children and the future generation, and many see a dark and gloomy forecast. Some will run for the hills in an attempt to escape the world. Yet, there is no need to escape for Christ has overcome the world [Jn16:33]. For the Word of Christ is rooted in you and your children. Therefore, we prepare our children in the Word as they will go into their fields and become the greatest of lights of Christ to those they are called to serve. So, in the meantime, I encourage you, to bring your children to church, to bible study, and continue to nurture them in the Word [Eph6:4]. For the Word carries on in Christ who is the same yesterday today and forever [Heb13:8].

So join us as we carry on in the Word!
