Las Buena Noticias - The Good News

News briefs from Centro Cristiano Hispano
Hispanic Mission and Ministries in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, California
Christian mission outreach of the Pacific Southwest District, The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod

"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

The new members of our mission start Centro Cristiano Moorpark, along with Pastor Bob Hiller, members of Faith Lutheran Church of Moorpark, and the Hispanic Mission Planting Team of Centro Cristiano Emmanuel, Santa Paula, made and distributed 100 sack lunches to families on Friendship Day (Valentine's Weekend). The meal was ham and cheese sandwiches with jalapeños, chips, apples, cookies, and juice boxes. Stapled on the bags was an invitation to know Jesus Christ and to participate in our Saturday English as a Second Language (ESL) class and attend our Bible studies. The families and individuals we met were located in parks, Basketball courts, laundromats, car washes and mechanic shops.

Please pray with us for the 10 continuing students of Centro Cristiano Hispano's Bible Institute as they continue their studies in the SEAN / Lay Leader Training Course. They are all faithful to their classes and we pray that the Lord blesses their efforts as students and also their ministries in their respective churches.

The Mixteco Ministry leaders have been handing out all of the warm blankets and socks that have been donated by many of you. The Mixteco families are so grateful for these gifts of warmth during the winter months. We continue to distribute our evangelistic Mixteco DVD in Oxnard.

Praise the Lord for the many anointed leaders of Centro Cristiano Oxnard as they work together to bring the Good News to Hispanic families in Oxnard. Please continue to pray to the health concerns of Pastor Marco's wife, Francisca.

Centro Cristiano Emanuel, Santa Paula has planned several evangelistic activities for the community of Santa Paula. An evangelistic concert is planned for the end of February.

Thirty eight women are currently registered for a women's spiritual retreat on March 6th. Please pray that the seeds that are sown at these events will take root and grow to the glory of our Lord.

Pastor Marcelino Velasco will be graduating from St. Louis Seminary on Friday, May 21, 2010. Praise the Lord with us for Marcelino's faithful work and for his future as the called and ordained Pastor of Centro Cristiano Emanuel, Santa Paula, California.

How can you be a part of what the Lord is doing?

Centro Cristiano Hispano remains in constant need of financial support for 2010. Our grants have been greatly reduced and we are cutting back our budget in all areas. Please consider a one-time or monthly gift to enable us to maintain and increase our ministries. Thank you in Jesus.

Who we are:

Centro Cristiano Hispano (CCH) is the mission planting and resource organization of the LCMS Hispanic ministries in Ventura County. It is currently led by Mission Director, Pastor Dennis Bradshaw, and it oversees the Mixteco Ministry, the mission start in Moorpark (CCM) and the CCH Bible Institute.

Centro Cristiano Redwood (Oxnard) and Centro Cristiano Emanuel (Santa Paula) are officially recognized churches of the LCMS. CCH advises the leaders of these two churches as they request. The Hispanic Mission Society is made up of the members of the Lutheran Churches in Circuits One and Two and exists to support the ministries of the Hispanic mission and to help raise up future lay leaders and Pastors.
